Years and years ago this navy Theory blazer was one of the first wardrobe investments I made when I worked in finance.
It was a steep investment for me at the time but a practical one. I wore this blazer day-in and day-out without anyone realizing it was the exact same piece. It wore well and looked professional. It fit beautifully and polished off almost any look I made. And it washed like a dream (as all true wardrobe investments should).
Slowly I realized no piece in my wardrobe offered me more versatility than a well-cut, flattering navy blazer.
So then I slowly began collecting them. Navy blazers of all sorts of cuts and finishes began popping up in my closet like an addiction. All culminating with my more modern Smythe blazer (I love the unique cutout in the back!).
Which ultimately meant that my beloved Theory blazer was left almost forgotten in my closet, trumped by the sea of navy toppers I’d collected over the years. But true wardrobe investments find a way of always being relevant in your life, no matter the time or the occasion and this great blazer was no exception.
Last month I pulled it out for the first time in what felt like years, put it on, and KICKED myself for neglecting such a wonderful, well-cut piece in my wardrobe. And now, with the addition of these killer stud belts (I linked two together, one nude and one navy, for this look), it has a new, edgier look for my more creative lifestyle.
Isn’t it always so satisfying when a wardrobe investment reinvents itself time and time again? Corporate life to creative life, I know I’ll be wearing this blazer still for YEARS to come.
