“Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.“
— Albert Schweitzer

These last few months have been hard, filled with many trials and confusions I could never have seen coming. Many of them without “right” or “wrong” answers. Many of them the sort of situations I never ever expected to be in, at least at my age.
For the past week I’ve been back in Florida caring for my grandmother, getting her taxes done, her bills paid, and making sure she actually eats (she’s down over 20 lbs from this summer… down to 106!). While she’s doing better than I ever though possible, some of the trials and tribulations have been harder this trip than they were back in November when she had her stroke.
The fact that I’m STILL sick from that sinus infection I got before Valentine’s Day doesn’t help.
But just two days ago I was graciously reminded of the power of kindness in moments like these. We’d been having a rough day, rough in many ways. But the power of kindness from friends and family (many of whom didn’t even know we were having a rough day), restored me.
Sometimes, the power of kindness can truly be humbling. To those of you who reached out Saturday, you helped more than you know. Today I am refueled and reenergized to handle the tasks at hand. And for that I am more grateful than I could possibly put to words.
Never forget the power of kindness, it truly can change the world, one person at a time.
