With less than 2 weeks until my birthday (my last one before 30!), I’ve been thinking a lot about change, time, and how I’ve evolved as a person throughout my 20s. I remember starting my 20s by living in India for 5 months. I landed in a new country excited and a little scared but incredibly eager to make something of my time there. Eager to make my life an adventure.
Now, almost 9 years later, I’m laughing at how much of an adventure my life has actually been! Nothing I planned or expected for myself worked the way I thought it would.
I always suspected I would marry in my 30s. So naturally Hubby and I were married by the time I was 25 (such a young age in these modern times!).
I thought I’d spend a few years living in India working on economic development projects and doing photography on the side. That certainly didn’t happen.
I thought I’d have my father with me throughout my twenties. But he was gone before I turned 23.
I thought I’d be traveling constantly. Instead I have stayed behind to spend time with my shrinking family (and to spend time with my loving pugs!).
And after my father passed away, I NEVER thought I’d return to photography. And now here I am booking quadruple shoots most days of the week.
It’s funny the twists and turns life makes. The one constant we can ever expect throughout life is change. But I am daily grateful for the experiences and opportunities I’ve had, especially over the last decade of my life. I can’t even begin to imagine what the next decade will look like!
On a side note, after weeks of searching I finally found my perfect birthday dress — this gorgeous Cedric Charlier number via Rent the Runway! The photos could never possibly do the beauty of this patchwork eyelet fabric justice. It’s one of the most stunning prints and silhouettes I’ve ever worn! The subtle lime green and pink pops of color underneath the beige and navy make for such an interesting contrast — I know this dress will most definitely be a talking piece wherever I choose to wear it!
