“The biggest thing you can do is understand that every time you’re going to the grocery store, you’re voting with your dollars. Support your farmers’ market. Support local food. Really learn to cook.”

Late August is an impressive time for fresh produce here in Chicago. The fall harvest is just beginning and the bounty can be astounding!
It’s the time of year that we’re up to our ears in corn (sorry, couldn’t stop myself…)! I start making a multitude of soups and sauces, like my favorite salmon chowder, with our vegetable garden and farmers market hauls.
For years we’ve been coming to Lincoln Park’s famous Green City Market. I love seeing how much it’s grown in popularity and selection as more and more locals have caught on.
There’s really no better way to spend a Saturday morning!
Just be sure to wear comfy walking shoes, grab a delicious green juice to nourish you as you peruse the offerings, and bring plenty of extra bags to tote home all your farmer’s market finds!
