Earlier this week I met up with fellow Chicago blogger Katharine of Paytington & Co to discuss some exciting upcoming blog collaborations over lunch. Being two die-hard Anglophiles, we chose Ralph Lauren’s only restaurant, RL, not only for its simple and delicious American fare but also because the dark, library-inspired decor practically transports you to a set for Downton Abbey. From the floor-to-ceiling bookcases to the beautiful leather chairs and various fireplaces, the ambiance evokes nostalgia for a more refined time where quality and attention-to-detail reigned. The elegant yet cozy atmosphere was the perfect setting for the two of us to chat about all things blogging and British. We ended our simple meal with one of the most delicious cookie platters I’ve ever had the privilege of tasting. I highly recommend the almond-scented coconut macaroon with chocolate:
After writing so much about why I love this blazer, I took the dreary, unseasonably cold weather as a sign to bring it out for a little outfit post. I paired it with a simple breton-stripe tee and ripped skinnies to stay casual but still professional. Don’t you just love the subtle peplum detailing in the back?
